Golden Rain Foundation of Walnut Creek

The foundation is responsible for the management and operation of the community and the recreation facilities owned, leased or used by the foundation. It handles such services as security, education and recreation, maintenance and repair of the community facilities and residences. The foundation is headed by a board of directors made up of residents elected by their neighbors from geographic districts. These directors represent their districts in community management. Board policies are carried out by the general manager and his staff. The foundation operates on an annual budget.

Monthly Maintenance & Operations Fee

This fee insures continuation of high quality maintenance, programs, activities and services. The fee covers:

  2. Community bus service
  3. Exterior maintenance including painting
  4. Landscaping and garden maintenance
  5. Community newspaper
  6. Street lighting and maintenance
  7. Basic cable TV service
  8. Home expenses for water and garbage disposal
  9. Corporate liability and property damage insurance
  10. Fire insurances and extended coverage on your building
  11. Professional administration and management
  12. Property taxes on community facilities owned or leased by the community

Qualifications for Rossmoor

Rossmoor is an adult country club community. Anyone who is 55 or over or has a spouse within this age requirement is eligible to live here. It is not exclusively a retirement community. Many residents work in cities throughout the Bay Area, either part or full time. Children and grand children are welcome as visitors for weekends or vacations. Special swimming pool times have been arranged for visiting youngsters, for the convenience of residents and guests alike.

The Location

On the warm, eastern side of the Coast Range, 26 freeway miles from San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean. 16 freeway miles east of Oakland. 2 miles from downtown Walnut Creek, Lafayette and Walnut Creek BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) stations are each 2.5 miles away.

The Climate

Mild and temperate all year round. Summer daytime temperatures are in the middle 80s. The maximum daily mean temperature is 72 degrees. Annual rainfall averages 20 inches; sunshine averages 3,200 hours a year. Humidity is the dry middle range.

Shopping

The Rossmoor Shopping Center is next door. Its stores meet the food and other conveniences shopping needs of Rossmoor, and include offices of numerous banks, savings and loans, and stock brokers. A U.S. post office is locates adjacent to the shopping center. In downtown Walnut Creek there are excellent department stores among a wide range of shops and services.

Utilities

Utilities Residents pay their own gas, electric and phone bills. Water and garbage costs are included in the monthly community fee.

Pets

Rossmoor welcome pets, but they must be leashed when outside your home. Pets are not allowed inside any of the community facilities. There are several dog exercise areas within the community.

Security

Rossmoor has its own 24 hour security service in addition to the protection from Walnut Creek Police Department. The security plaza is manned around the clock and there are frequent patrols throughout the community. Residents are given car identification for immediate passage through the security plaza. Guests merely show their passes and are waved through, while visitors without passes are asked to identify themselves and be announced by phone to the residents they plan to visit. Door to door solicitations are prohibited.

Transportation

Rossmoor has its own private bus service.
It runs throughout the community, to the neighboring shopping center and medical clinic at no charge. City buses to downtown Walnut Creek and the BART station depart from the shopping center regularly.
